VL: Proj.04: Context Postcard 3

Drawing from the dissonant historical contexts represented in the previous two postcards, I included a third to further the dialogue and create a series. The products combine to form a system - an inventory and timeline of predominant musical movements from a given era.

in this postcard, the references to classical forms of music presented in a contemporary manner informed the formal decisions. this mode is advantageous in its appeal to a contemporary audience as an effective while referencing the values of heroism w/ the equestrian statue implicit in the romantic movement of the early 19th century.

This series draws on the dual aspects inherent in artistic performance and identity associated with celebrity. Having researched Beethoven's complicated life history, I focused on the often complicated distinction between being and performing - visually exploring the concept of art imitating life imitating art.
